Symbolically and spiritually, viruses may force stillness, reflection, and restoration when life has become unsustainably demanding. From the 2023 Emotion Link Reference Guide — possible emotional associations: the influenza virus is often linked with allowing conflict to get to you; viral pneumonia with needing a break from conflict; viral earache with not wanting to hear surrounding conflict; viral sinusitis with strong irritation or being irritating. Possible purpose or secondary gain: permission to rest and withdraw from conflict.
