Possible Buried Beliefs

  • I'm not safe unless I have a physical buffer.
  • If I'm bigger, I'll be less seen or less hurt.
  • I need to carry the weight for others.
  • Food is my safest comfort.
  • It's not safe to be fully seen or loved.

Healing Notes

Weight gain is not a failure but may represent a highly adaptive physical and emotional response to chronic stress, trauma, unmet needs, or nervous system dysregulation. Excess weight can function as emotional armor, stored grief, protection from intimacy or vulnerability, or compensation for prolonged depletion. Some frameworks associate it with self-protection, fear-based holding, and unresolved emotional burdens.
