The Next-Reward Trap
The Hook
Random prizes, mystery rewards, and chance-based mechanics
How the Tactic Works
Unpredictable rewards can sustain repeated checking and play.
How AI / Algorithms May Amplify It
Systems can test reward schedules, but not every game individualizes odds.
How to Recognize It
I keep paying or playing for the next reveal rather than enjoying the activity.
What It May Touch
Lust for reward, greed, anticipation, scarcity, impulsivity, dissatisfaction, fear of missing out, compulsion
Possible Buried Belief
“The next attempt could be the one.”
