Weight Issues

Trauma Protection Weight

Buried Feeling

Unsafe, violated, exposed, ashamed, powerless, afraid of being touched.

Buried Belief
  • My body needs a shield.
  • If I am less attractive, I am safer.
  • If I lose weight, people may want me.
  • If people want me, they may harm me.
  • If I become visible, I am unsafe.
  • My weight keeps people away.
Hard-to-Go Place

Feeling the original fear, violation, exposure, or lack of protection without using weight as the only shield. Weight may provide a barrier, distance, invisibility, reduced sexual attention, avoidance of touch, protection from desire, or a way to feel less exposed.

Next Step

Ask, "What does my body believe it is protecting me from?"
